Qualification Overview
The aim of this NVQ is to contribute to the skills, knowledge and overall performance of individuals who are employed in providing a bus or coach service. This qualification is based on current best practice needed to be a modern bus and coach driver. As well as covering the core functions of a driver this NVQ also focuses on vital skills need to be able to offer a professional service such as communication, working with others and customer service.
To ensure there is synergy between the PCV NVQ and the forthcoming Driver’s CPC, this qualification has been mapped to the relevant knowledge and understanding from the EU directive on Driver Training.
Qualification Structure
To achieve a full Level 2 NVQ in Passenger Carrying Vehicle Driving (Bus and Coach) the learner must complete 10 mandatory units. The additional units are available to enable Continuous Professional Development and extended training opportunities. They do not form a requirement of the qualification.

UNIT 8 Drive passenger carrying vehicles safely and efficiently
UNIT 9 Operate the passenger systems and service
UNIT 10 Deal with emergencies and incidents during a bus or coach journey

UNIT 11 Negotiate and agree tour itineraries with clients (Coach)
UNIT 12 Process fares and receive and match fare payments to tickets (Bus/Coach)
UNIT 13 Manage financial transactions on coach journeys (Coach)
UNIT 14 Provide a transport service for passengers who have special needs (Bus/Coach)

Level 2: NVQ in Driving Goods Vehicles

Qualification Overview
This NVQ is for goods’ vehicle drivers who are able to show the minimum level of occupational competence required for a goods’ vehicle driver. This competence is more than that required by the relevant statutory driving test, as it includes competences in pre-driving checks (including the use of tachographs) and monitoring the loading of goods. Driving skills need to be shown whilst driving a goods’ vehicle that is laden with the candidate’s typical load. Candidates are required to drive safely and with acceptable wear and tear on the vehicle.
Candidates also have the opportunity to show competence in unloading goods vehicles, and coupling and uncoupling goods vehicles. (These two areas are covered by two additional units, which do not form part of the full qualification.)
Achievement of this NVQ provides the opportunity for individuals to demonstrate that they work consistently to a national standard recognised by their industry. It also indicates that an organisation is committed to developing its staff and maintaining quality.

To achieve a full Level 2 NVQ in Driving Goods Vehicles, the learner
must complete the 7 mandatory units.

UNIT 6 (DGV10) Driving the vehicle on public roads
UNIT 7 (DGV11) Driving the vehicle in restricted spaces

Level 2: NVQ in Carry and Deliver Goods

Qualification Overview
The EDI Level 2 NVQ in Carry and Deliver Goods is aimed at drivers of light vehicles, vans, motorcycles or pedal cycles, whose job role involves multi-drop deliveries and customer interaction. The qualification aims to allow candidates to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to demonstrate their ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers, plan routes and the delivery and collection of goods and materials.
Qualification Structure
To achieve a full certificate in Carry and Deliver Goods, candidates must complete all 6 mandatory units and one unit from the optional group of units. (Total 7 units). Additional units may be taken, but these will not count towards the qualification structure.

Assessment Method
This qualification is assessed through competence-based assessment, as per the requirements of the assessment strategy.
Level 2: NVQ in Customer Service

Qualification Overview
This EDI Level 2 NVQ in Customer Service is suitable for anyone working or hoping to work within a customer service role. The aim of this qualification is to contribute to the skills, knowledge and overall performance of the industry's workforce. It provides a first insight into the principles and processes of the delivery of customer service and will aid career progression. Within your job role you need to be able to show that you can carry out a range of work activities in a variety of contexts. Some of these activities will need to be complex or non-routine tasks that may be carried out when you work as part of a team. In addition you need to show that you can take responsibility for your own work and work by yourself when needed.
Qualification Structure
To achieve a full certificate in Customer Service, you are required to complete the 2 mandatory units and 5 optional units (at least one from each Theme).
