Qualification Overview
The Level 1 Award in Disability Awareness has been developed for candidates who wish to:
- Develop knowledge and understanding of the differences between disability and impairment
- Acquire an understanding of the social model of disability
- Understand the wider context of disability and how this should be put into practice in the workplace
- Explore the barriers that are faced by disabled people
- Gain an understanding of the duties and legislative acts that have been introduced to ensure disabled people are not discriminated against
Qualification Structure
The Award consists of one unit:
Unit 1: Disability Awareness
In order to successfully complete the learning outcomes and assessment for this unit, candidates must demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of:
- The meaning of disability and impairment
- The attitudes and barriers faced by disabled people
- What is meant by ‘the social model of disability’
- Disability as a rights issue
- Disability as a socio-economics issue
- Language about disability
- How the social model can be put into practice
Assessment Method One multiple-choice test consisting of 15 questions

Qualification Overview
This qualification has been developed for learners who wish to:
- Develop skills in using IT and apply these skills in a business context
- Progress a career, and need appropriate IT skills to support that career
- Progress towards an NVQ, eg the EDI Level 1 NVQ for IT Users
This qualification is relevant to all occupational areas in which skills in using IT are required.
Qualification Structure
Learners must achieve a total of 3 units.
At least 2 units must be at level 1.
The third unit may be achieved at any level. Only 1 unit from each group can be chosen.

Each of the Word Processing, Database, Spreadsheet and Presentation Software units are assessed through an assignment completed within a fixed time. The Email, Internet and IT Security units will be assessed and marked through an online series of tasks.

Level 2
Qualification Overview
This qualification is aimed at people working within the licensed retail sector, particularly those working in pubs, clubs and bars who might come into contact with illegal drug users or drug dealers. It will enable learners to identify illegal drugs and to recognise the signs of drug use and drug dealing. The qualification will also enable learners to understand the legal issues surrounding drug use and how to develop a policy to combat drug use and drug dealing on licensed premises.
This qualification is open to all candidates who are preparing to work, or who are already working, in the Licensed Trade, running their own public house or other licensed premises. Progression opportunities are available through a range of relevant EDI Level 2 and 3 qualifications including:
- EDI Level 3 National Diploma for Designated Premises Supervisors
- EDI Level 2 NVQ in Food and Drink Service
- EDI Level 2 NVQ in Food Processing and Cooking
- EDI Level 3 NVQ in Hospitality Supervision
- EDI Level 3 NVQ in Customer Service
- EDI Level 2 Award in Retail Skills
Qualification Structure To achieve a full Level 2 Award in Drugs Awareness, candidates must complete the following unit:
Unit 1 Drugs awareness
1.1 Drugs classification and legislation
1.2 Drug use on licensed premises
1.3 Combating drug use on licensed premises
Assessment Method:One synoptic multiple-choice paper of 30 questions
Certificate in Drug and Substance Awareness Level 1
This short programme is designed to give learners an awareness of the implications of using drugs and substances. It will provide underpinning knowledge to identify the signs and symptoms of substance misuse and the steps that can be taken to overcome this. It gives learners an introduction to the implications of misusing a range of common drugs and substances, both legal and illegal, and deals with the many myths surrounding their use. It raises awareness of the risk of performance being affected due to the effects of drugs or alcohol.
- Develop knowledge of commonly used drugs and substances and be able to recognise the signs of use.
- Develop knowledge of the effects that drugs and substances can have on individuals and how this can impact on performance.
- Increase the learner’s confidence to address drug and substance misuse in an appropriate manner
- Dispel hearsay and myths surrounding drugs and substances.
- Develop awareness of the classification of drugs and substances.
- Develop awareness of responsibilities towards health and safety.
- Gain understanding of how social and other factors can have an impact on use and misuse of drugs and substances.

Qualification Overview
The Level 2 Certificate in Business and Administration (Organisations and People) has been developed for candidates who already have the knowledge and skills equivalent to a Level 1 Administration qualification, gained either through previous learning or employment or both, and who now wish to:
- Acquire knowledge and understanding relevant to the role of the administrator at a senior or supervisory level
- Progress a career, and need the knowledge and understanding to support that career
- Enter administrative roles in which they will carry out a range of administrative tasks often without supervision
- Progress towards an NVQ, such as the EDI Business and Administration NVQ Level 3 or Level 4
- Gain a Business Administration Advanced Apprenticeship.

For unit 1, candidates have to answer 50 questions in 90 minutes, and for unit 2, candidates have to answer 30 questions in 60 minutes.

Qualification Overview
This qualification is designed to enable candidates to develop an understanding of administration and organisations and a knowledge of administration systems and procedures. It also aims to enable candidates to develop an understanding of a range of business services and management support.
Qualification Structure
Candidates must complete all of the following units:
